We Have A New Website

You've probably noticed that I've been a bit quiet lately. Sorry about this, but there was a good reason for it and I can now tell you what it is - we have a new website.

LR is over three years old now, and in that time we've grown and grown. Put simply, there are a helluvah lot more of you reading this now, than there were back then - and probably more of you than you'd think!

As time has gone on, we've also increasingly found that we've been outgrowing Blogger. It's not always the easiest system through which to post articles - particularly the "long form" ones we tend to write, and this has been one of the major barriers to us being able to keep up a reasonable frequency of posts. It also isn't the easiest interface through which to cooperate and delegate.

Basically we love writing LR, we want to post more consistently and regularly, we want it to continue to grow, and we want to do more with it - we've got a couple of projects in the works that we think you, our readers and commentors, are going to like.

All of the above, though, was only going to be possible if we moved to a better publishing platform customised around what we do. We've also long thought that we could do with bringing a better, cleaner design to the site to make reading easier (and also make it nicer on mobile devices).

So that's what I've been building and testing over the last month or so. And so, ladies and gentlemen, we humbly request your presence at:

http://www.londonreconnections.com

There you will find all of the archives, articles and comments from here, as well as a bumper crop of new ones as well, which are awaiting your comment. Firstly, George takes a look at what's been happening in Transport terms as the Olympics draw near. In "Haykerloo?" Mwmbwls takes you on a trip down the proposed Bakerloo Line Extension onto the Hayes Line. I take a look at what Franchise Devolution might mean for London and Pedantic... well... Pedantic is on holiday. The slacker. You can also now find us officially on Twitter at @lonrec (and me personally at @garius) and thanks to the improved ease of posting you can expect more regular articles on the main site from now on.

Anyway, we hope you like it, and look forward to seeing your comments. Again, I apologise for the lack of posts this meant for a while, but it was the only way I could gain myself the time I needed to build the new site. We hope you like it (and please let us know your suggestions for improvements) and we look forward to the next three years with you and beyond.
