In Pictures: Some Summer Openings

The new South Quays station on the DLR is now nearing completion and is currently scheduled to open this summer. The new station, located at Millwall Cut about 200m east of the current station, is being built because the track alignment at the existing station effectively renders it impossible to build the 30m of platform extension that would be required to support 3-car services on the DLR.

Elsewhere in the world of major London Transport projects, work is also largely complete on the construction of the Jubilee Market coverings at Borough Market. The coverings will allow a number of stallholders to be relocated, meaning that modifications can be carried out at Borough Market to allow the new Thameslink viaduct to pass overhead. According to those on site, the coverings will be officially completed in June.
