Having fallen victim to the Mayor's cull of "unfunded" projects, it appears that the case for funding a DLR extension into Dagenham may be growing stronger.
As this BBC piece indicates, the LDA are currently in negotiations with the Ministry of Justice over the construction of a new 1,500 capacity prison on the old Ford Factory site at Beam Reach.
The BBC piece obviously concentrates mainly on the various community objections to the project, but the MoJ appear to be hopeful that it will go ahead.
Were it to do so, it would certainly strengthen the case for funding the DLR extension, indeed the LDA seem to be arguing that it would effectively guarantee it, although an indication of exactly where the money would come from is noticably absent.
Thanks to AH for the spot.
